The challenge
The school needed a simple, reliable way to track each student pilot's progress through training. The first version was exactly that — a fillable PDF.
As enrollment grew, so did everything around it: more instructors to coordinate, more aircraft to manage, more endorsements and records to keep, and a curriculum that needed real scheduling behind it. No off-the-shelf product matched the way the school actually operated, and bending the business to fit one was never on the table.
What we built
Flight School Manager evolved in step with the client. The PDF became a desktop application; the desktop application became a cloud-hosted platform accessible from anywhere. Each stage added the capabilities the school needed next, without forcing a rewrite of what already worked.
Capabilities
- Student progress tracking and training milestones
- Curriculum planning, pace planning, and scheduling
- Instructor management and CFI portals
- Aircraft management and fuel tracking
- Student portals with practice exams
- Pre-solo and checkout exams
- Endorsement management and record keeping
The outcome
The platform continues to evolve as the school's needs change — which is the whole point of custom software. It grows with the business instead of asking the business to work around it. The school dictates what the software does, not the other way around.
Projects like this were once out of reach for small businesses on cost alone. AI-assisted development has changed that equation, putting purpose-built systems within reach of organizations that could never justify them before.
